Is it possible to unlock my Tracfone Motorola C261?
I have an old Tracfone that I no longer use. It has a SIM card that I also don't use. I moved to the ATT network, and just recently, my phone is experiencing problems. How can I unlock my Tracfone so I can put my ATT SIM card in it?
The SIM in the Tracfone is a TRACFONE SIM. The phone has to be unlocked in order for my ATT SIM to read properly.
both answers above me are wrong. i have tried doing this to a nokia 1101 and a motorola c261 (your model) the only way to unlock the phone is to flash the oem software (motorolas original software) in it. tracfones dont work like regular sim card phones. tracfone puts the data in the phone. everything dealing with the tracfone account goes to the phone not the sim. thats why you get the minutes avaiable on the main screen. thats also why the prepaid menu is integrated into the phone menu, and sometimes see some menus missing that the manual says they have. i have proved this. i was able to bypass the wrong sim msg on the c261 and it said emergency only on the main screen. then i tried makin phone calls (on a latin american network) and they wouldnt go through and i saw the minutes i had were still there on the main screen below emergency only.
youre better off buying a nu cheap phone as the price to reflash the phone is around the price for a basic att phone
