Complete your final year's accounts - Be Prepared

This month has seen the end of the fiscal year, which means you can prepare the final accounts year (for those with a year to co-terminate with the fiscal year). For most of this is probably one of the most stressful jobs you have to do this year, but do not pull the hairs at all - as counters that are here to crisis of numbers, advise and do all that is required to ensure compliance. This article has been developed to help in the process and help make a quick and painless process.

Of course, you need to check if year-end date. Most of people and thousands of unincorporated businesses have a new year at the time the tax year (fiscal year).

The first thing do is touch base with your accountant and ask them if there is something specific to do this year 1) or to make things easier, or 2) if there are any legislative change or regulations which may affect the preparatory work.

You can also share with your accountant of your written business plan and financial business plan to provide an update on progress of the company so they can plan their work accordingly, and also for any plan of complexities.

Usually The following list of items required:

1. Cash book - presumably you had an analysis of all business expenses and income on a spreadsheet. Please check that it is complete and reconciled against your bank statement.

2. Purchase invoices - for all tax-sensitive elements to obtain copies of invoices and cross reference these CashBook. Tax-sensitive elements are legal fees, consulting fees, capital expenditures, etc.

3. Balance Analysis - Analysis of all elements of the balance sheet - ie, the list of trade receivables, other receivables, trade payables, fixed assets, and the list values.

4. Bank accounts - bank statements for all bank accounts (loans, overdrafts and current accounts) in the year-end date.

5. Taxes - details and evidence in support of the taxes paid and taxes owed.

6. Partnership agreements - the business of being an association then the details of any new agreements or plans as required.

7. Provisions - consider that there should be a need for provisions such as bad debt provisions or the provisions of property damage.

8. Depreciation - Have you calculated the depreciation of fixed assets?

There may be other documents or correspondence that needs to feed its counter depending on the type of business you run, so check with your accountant to be sure. Also, Be sure to keep all relevant documents submitted and references for you and your accountant can easily find them.

Your accountant can always provide guidance on the types of records and the best way to store them. It is also worth considering how you can back up data for security purposes and business continuity.
